Trader Joe's Greek Style Nonfat Pomegranate Yogurt

I lately fell in love with Trader Joe's yogurt but not the price. The Greek style nonfat is my second favorite, after greentea matcha.

Let's talk about the pomegranate flavor. I don't like the first spoon I ate. However, after a few spoonful I like it better. I like the fact that it's low calorie but the texture is still thick. One signature characteristic of TJ's yogurts, they are always more sour that other brands'. JJ always refers it as "acidic". It sounds very much like some kinds of chemical reaction going on when you eat. The yogurt increased the acidity in your stomach juice and when you have a chance to use pH paper to test the acidity, the pH paper would turn yellow, orange or red, or somewhere between any two colors of above.

Enough of bullshit, matter of all, I will not buy it again. haha

Ruen Pair Restaurant

Since he went to Thai Town for haircut, we spent one sunday bunch at one of the Thai Town's restaurant he often dined.

He knew so much about Thai food that brought me to a greater horizon of what Thai food can be. Seriously, in Seattle, I thought Thai menu only got curries, Pad Thai, Pad See Iew, and Thai Tea/Coffee. Obviously, it's only because Seattle doesn't have much picky Thai food critics.

That day he ordered the Stew Pork Leg on Rice, I had the green curry served with rice. Both were terrific!! The best Thai food so far. The green curry I special ordered it to be cooked with less coconut milk because I think coconut milk thicken the curry too much and I always ended up eating very little. With less coconut milk, the curry is more liquid and spicier too, since the curry's spiciness cannot be balanced off from the sweetness of coconut milk.
The Pork Leg was good, especially the stew sauce put on the rice. Oh my godness, it reminded me about the meat stew in home (Hong Kong) once a long while.

Trader Joe's Lowfat Yogurt- Matcha GreenTea

Think about it, how many time have you seen a prepack greentea flavor from grocery stores? Almost none, right? I found Haagen-Dazs recently put its green-tea premium ice-cream in Albertson and Walmart's but not much American brand had put greentea yogurt in the market. When I saw this Matcha yogurt in Trader Joe's, I grabbed one into my basket without thinking.

The taste is a bit too sour. Please don't expect any sweetness from it. However, if you're a greentea lover, this deserves at least one try. I took three this times, although it costs $0.99 each, comparing to yoplait's $0.54 yogurt, I know I couldn't often find it from the Trader Joe's I always shop.

Trader Joe's French Village- Strawberry non-fat Yogurt

Trader Joe's always sells high quality yogurts. The texture is just unique and you can't find it from any generic brands on the market. The texture is usually thick and homemade-style.

Some people may not like the sourness of Trader Joe's Yogurt though. I sometimes found that its yogurt is too sour and lack of real fruit dices. In yoplait (my long-term supporting brand), I get all I wants, exciting varieties of favors, low calories options, good sweetness and diced fruits in the mix.

Anyway, this strawberry yogurt was recommended by him because it got the closest taste and texture as those from France. Having yogurts from Trader Joe's once a while is fine, however, the price is higher than generic brand. For me, the high-consuming buyer rather stays with Yoplait.

Sam Woo Barbecue Restaurant

After an exhausting night from playing badminton on Saturday, we decided to just have a simple sunday movie date at his house. He said that he would to-go some food for our lunch. End up, he got the Chinese BBQ Pork and roasted duck. He knew that I hadn't have Chinese BBQ pork over a year so he got these to surprise me. They tasted good but a bit cold (because I arrived late). I always heard people give compliments on its Chinese BBQ food before, finally I tried .

See the dumplings on the bottom?! Haha, I made them last Thursday so that he could bring some to work and some in freezer for coming week. I remembered on the night I brought him these dumplings, he was so thankful and surprised. My dumpling's ingredients: ground pork, garlics, green onion, and sweet corns. My dumpling's seasoning: chicken powder, soysauce, salt, and sesame oil.

Kiki Bakery

Last Saturday, I prepared a great Italian dinner for us. He came over after work and said he would bring the dessert. Shame on me, I forgot to take pictures for what I had cooked for the whole day: lasagna, beef stewed tomato soup, and fried french style green beans. The soup was just perfect!! I was so proud of that soup. He almost ran out for baguette to eat with the soup. Again, French eats baguette in every ways, including soup-dipping. And of course, a delicious western dinner cannot be perfect without red wine so I serve us a glass of Blackstone's Merlot 2005.

Anyway, he bought two pieces of HK-style cakes from Kiki Bakery. Kiki has 4 branches around LA, including San Gabriel, Alhambra, Rowland Height and somewhere I don't remember.

The complementary gift box is very adorable. I was excepted that the cake would be as exciting as the container. However, they both didn't impress me. I cannot taste any rum from Tiramisu. The strawberry moose is better but... ... again, no excitement.

Although the cake menu is a no-no, I recommend its HK/Taiwanese style pastries and buns.

Cefiore Italian Yogurt

Another famous yogurt chainstores around LA, Cefiore. I checked out its website and found that even Seattle has it, actually it's at Kirkland.

Cefiore is more or less like Pinkberry, except its popularity. The offering is similar. Four frozen yogurt flavors include raspberry-pomegranate, Acai, greentea and of course, ORIGINAL. The toppings list is very much the same as Pinkberry's menu.

I always go to the one at Acadia Westfield mall because it's the closest one from my house plus it has the kid size (5oz). I usually go there at weekday nights and buy one as my dinner. Yup! 5oz yogurt is good enough to satisfy my sweet teeth and empty stomach. My all-time-favorite of course is matcha greentea until chocolate came out as the Valentine's Day special. They don't have chocolate anymore so I go back to my greentea.

Some people would compare Pinkberry and Cefiore. In term of texture, I do agree that Pinkberry wins this round. Pinkberry's frozen yogurt is smoother and the sweetness and sourness is just right. However, Cefiore has the berry-flavor which make it not a bad alternative, while Pinkberry only has greentea, original and coffee.
