We drove all the way from LA to Garden Grove for lunch at the local famous French bakery, Boulangerie Pierre & Patisserie. The bakery is owned by a Frenchman who married a Vietnamese woman. The savory menu is more traditional/ frenchier than Viet-French bakery, instead of just offering baguette sandwiches, they have the authentic French savory snack, such as Croque Monsieur. Anny said that she loves it but paying $4 for a baked cheese topped ham and cheese sandwich .... she think it's too much. The croissant was good too but the cream in the middle was too heavy.

I don't even remember what the other plate called. It wasn't too good and JJ had no idea what it is. It's probably the invention of the owner but not a traditional French plate. I guess it's croque provencal because it's topped with tomato. The taste was not as exciting as the other two pastries, it looked more fancy/gourmet though.

A great meal can be great without matching beverage. A French light lunch would never go wrong with orangina or apple cider by what I observed from JJ. He took the Orangina and I drank my French pressed coffee.
We just get used to having dessert or a bit of something sweet after meals, no matter it's lunch or dinner. He was on the phone with mama so I was sent to pick the dessert. I bought the flan and chocolate eclair. The eclair was good but I was full so I pressed out the chocolate cream fill with my spoon to minimize "the harm". The flan was awesome, it's almost the worst I had so far. The texture was not good.. the taste was bad and dated. It's like a disastious cooking trial of new created recipe.

when we were "tall as 3 apples" (it's the french saying to say "when we were kids"), JJ loved "chausson aux pommes" it's like a giant ravioli with some melted apple fillings... dunno how to explain....
